Just a Wee Dram: Down South

I had the privileged of having dinner at a little food bar called Down South in Long Street, Cape Town. I must say it was a wonderful experience. Their aim is to bring the New Orleans experience to Cape Town and the menu is small but tasty. You get Ribs, Prawns, Beer and Bourbon.
The main reason for this post is to tell you about my brief experience with Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack. I will first however dive into my wonderful dining experience at this venue.

The Menu is great and if your not a Prawn or Rib fan the burgers are spectacular. I had some nice Buffalo Chicken Wings to start which have a nice spice to them but not too overpowering and finished off with the Ribs, What a winner. We enjoyed great service and there was always someone on hand to help. Whether your after a quick bite to eat or a relaxing meal, Down South comes highly recommended. Go visit them on www.downsouthfoodbar.com  or contact on +2721 422 11 55 or info@downsouthfoodbar.com

Now for my next love, after food, Whiskey and Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack:
Bourbon is not my first choice and am the first to say, I however, couldn't miss an opportunity to have some Jack last night in a New Orleans style restaurant (It's the closest I have been to the Distillery...) As they say, when in Rome...
Its the fruity and spicy flavour that makes Gentleman Jack so enjoyable and with some Spicy and BBQ food, you can't go wrong. I prefer my peaty single malts but I did enjoy getting tucked into something new and enjoying a new experience. I will try it again so that I can truly gain some more insights into American style whiskeys. As for Down South, I will return for a bite as well as to test out the Jack Daniels Single Barrel and more Gentleman Jack
